Two houses torched, police look for arsonist on tape
Friday Feb. 13, 2009
- Brampton Guardian
Peel police are looking for an arsonist after two brand new vacant homes were set alight this week.
Brampton firefighters were called to the first home at 5 Boundbrook Dr., north of Wanless Drive and east of McLaughlin Road, at 3:35 a.m. Thursday. The house, owned by Arista Homes and two weeks away from completion, was destroyed, according to Peel police.
Five hours later, police and firefighters were alerted to a fire at 11 Boundbrook Dr., also owned by Arista Homes and unoccupied. That fire was contained and doused quickly, but caused substantial structural damage, according to police.
Police are hoping surveillance cameras near the second home will help them find a suspect.
No one was injured and the total damage is estimated at $650,000.
Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 905-453-3311, ext. 2233, or Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
