May 4th, 2005 - Brampton Guardian

Local veterans will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War with a parade and memorial service beside Brampton City Hall Saturday morning and residents are invited to attend.

Veterans from Branch 15 and Branch 609 of the Royal Canadian Legion will parade from Branch 15 on Elizabeth Street South at 10:30 a.m., arriving at Memorial Square beside city hall for the 11 a.m. ceremony. After the ceremony, the veterans will return to Branch 15 for a celebration with friends and family.

"Thousands of Canadians have fought, and given their lives, for freedom and peace in World War II," said Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell in a news release. "I encourage all residents to attend this service in honour of the sacrifices and accomplishments of our veterans."
