Condolence book in memory of slain officers at City Hall
March 9th, 2005 - Brampton Guardian

A book of condolences in memory of the RCMP officers killed last week is available for signing in the atrium at Brampton City Hall until Friday, March 18.

The book is available 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, this week and next. Flags at city hall were lowered to half-mast following the tragedy and will remain that way until tomorrow (March 10), the day of the national memorial.

"Our hearts and thoughts go out to the family, friends and co-workers of these four brave officers," said Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell in a release this week. "On behalf of myself and council, we are deeply saddened by this tragedy."

Meanwhile, Peel police will officially send a contingent of 12 to the RCMP memorial service tomorrow. A six-member honour guard, Staff Supts. Mike Stephenson and Tom Allen representing Chief Noel Catney, and two representatives each from the police association and the senior officers' association will attend. Other officers may choose to attend on their own, according to police spokesperson Const. Craig Platt.
